... I thought I would give you what information I have about my great great grandmother Barbe Albitz.
She was born in Urschenheim, Alsace 28 May 1778, her parents were Johannes Albitz and Maria Romer.
Barbe married Ludwig Mather, born in Ostheim, Alsace in 1717, they were married in Ostheim 21 Nov 1803.
Ludwig and Barbe were my great great grandparents. They had a son John Mather born in Ostheim, Alsace 29 January 1806.
John was my great grandfather. He was married in Osthiem and came to the USA in 1847.
His wife died and he remarried in 1862. His second wife was Wilhelmena Krueger.
John and Wilhelmena were my great grandparents and lived in Lemont, Illinois a small town near Chicago, Illinois.
Many Alsatian people came to the Northern Illinois area in the eighteenth century, but I am not sure why. ..."
