There passed away at 8 20 p.m. on Friday last a well-known resident of the Upper Don in the person of Gottlieb Albietz, at the age of 55 years, after about a week’s illness from inflammation of the kidneys and internal complications.
Deceased was born in Bowen but had lived the greater part of his life on the farm on the Upper Don, which was originally taken up as a selection by his father. Quiet, in offensive and industrious, Gottlieb was liked and respected by all with whom he came into contact. The funeral, which left the residence of Mr. W. D. Gray on Saturday afternoon, was well attended, many old friends residing on the Upper Don and in town being present.
He leaves a wife, five sons and one daughter to mourn their loss, one son having made the supreme sacrifice.

The sad news was received in Proserpine on Wednesday morning of the
death of Mrs. August Hinschen, Senr., which took place in Sydney that morning.
It is only recently that Mr. August Hinschen disposed of his farming interests
in Proserpine and only a few weeks since Mr. and Mrs. Hinschen left Proserpine for Sydney, who they intended to reside.
We understand that Mrs. Hinschen contracted a cold while journeying to Sydney, which developed into pneumonia and her condition became so serious that a telegram on
Tuesday afternoon announced there was no hope for her recovery. This
telegram was followed by the one mentioned above on Wednesday morning
announcing her death. Members of the family left by the mail train for Sydney on Wednesday
morning and would of course be still journeying to Brisbane at the time of their mother's death. An effort was made to travel to Sydney by plane, but no accommodation was available.
The late Mrs. Hinschen was a member of the Albietz family, well-known in Bowen, and has resided in Proserpine over a long number of years, and was well-known in the district.
The deceased lady's interment took place in Sydney on Wednesday afternoon.
Deceased leaves a husband and grown up family, and two sisters residing
in Proserpine (Mrs. W. Stoneham and Mrs. J. Stoneham) to mourn their sad loss.
