EASTHAMPTON - Phyllis (Pelletier) Albitz, age 85, of Easthampton, passed away on Thursday, July 27 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, after a short illness. Born on July 29, 1920 in Malden, she was the daughter of the late Omer and Jetta (Dale) Pelletier. She moved with her family to Easthampton as an infant where she continued to live until her marriage to Edward Albitz in 1950. After her husband's retirement from the Air Force in 1966 she and her family settled in Easthampton. Phyllis worked for the Easthampton School Department before her retirement in 1987. In addition to her husband, Phyllis is survived by daughters, Diane Carantit and Lynne Mealy and her husband Greg; and son Thomas and his wife Karen; grandchildren Tyler Carantit and his wife Laurie, Maria Carantit, Kathryn Albitz and Jessica Albitz; great-granddaughter Grace Carantit; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Omer Pelletier, and a sister, Shirley Brakey. She will be missed by her family and friends. The funeral will be August 1 at 9:15 a.m. at the Graham Funeral Home, Adams St., Easthampton, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Easthampton. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Easthampton. Calling hours at Graham Funeral Home will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following charities: Immaculate Conception Church, 33 Adams St., Easthampton, MA, 01027 or the Easthampton Ambulance Fund, c/o Easthampton Fire Department, Payson Ave., Easthampton, MA, 01027. |

Born in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, he's recently predeceased by his beloved wife, Phyllis (Pelletier) Albitz. Edward served in the Navy during World War II and enlisted in the Air Force following his discharge. He met his wife at Westover AFB and he and his family lived around the world during his years in the service. Following his retirement from the Air Force in 1966 his family settled in Easthampton, MA. After a short period of employment at Textron, he was employed by the Easthampton Post Office until his retirement in 1988. Edward was a member of the Dalton Lavallee American Legion Post #224 of Easthampton. He was also a member of the Easthampton Parks and Recreation Commission. He is survived by his daughters Diane Carantit and Lynne Mealy and her husband Greg; son Thomas and his wife Karen; grandchildren Tyler Carantit and his wife Laurie, Maria Carantit, Kathryn Albitz, and Jessica Albitz and great-granddaughter Grace Carantit, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Tuesday, November 28 at 9:15 am from the Graham Funeral Home, Adams St., Easthampton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Immaculate Conception Church, Easthampton at 10:00 am.
